The Alienist could be your next Netflix addiction, the series is set in New York city in 1896, and tells the story of a series of haunting, gruesome murders that gripped the city.
Newly appointed police commissioner Theodore Roosevelt, criminal psychology Dr. Laszlo Kreizler, New York Times illustrator John Moore and Sara Howard, a headstrong secretary determined to become the city’s first female police detective, set out to find and apprehend one of New York City’s first serial killers.
19th-Century Crime Thriller
The 19th-century crime thriller stars Daniel Brühl, Dakota Fanning and Luke Evans and is best on the best selling novel of the same name written by Caleb Carr.
“To play one of the most compelling characters I’ve ever read on the page has been a huge honour,” said Daniel Brühl.
“Caleb Carr devised a fascinating world of intrigue and complexity, and I look forward to international audiences seeing how our brilliant cast and creatives have brought his words to life.”
“I am very proud of this show and really excited that people will be able to watch it all at once,” added Dakota Fanning.
It is directed by BAFTA nominee Jakob Verbruggen (Black Mirror) and exec produced by Eli Roth.
The ten-episode series will launch exclusively on Netflix on April 19 everywhere except the US and France.
