The Nickelodeon hit is making a comeback with the original stars Tia and Tamara Mowry in talks.
The now 38-year-old twin sisters want to bring back their sitcom – which was originally about two sisters who were separated and adopted at birth. The series was cancelled in 1999 but Tia admitted it has been a struggle to find a suitable producer to reboot the comedy.
Tia told Nylon magazine: ‘We’re looking, right now, for a producer and a writer, someone who can kind of be a leader of the pack in regards to running the show.
‘I thought people would kind of be jumping on it, but it’s a lot harder than my sister and I thought it would be. Everything in my career has always been a challenge. ‘It’s not dead in any kind of way. We’re moving forward, we’re taking those strides. They’re slow strides, but we’re pushing as hard as we can to make people happy and make our fans happy.’
And Tia revealed that she hopes her alter-ego would have grown up to have a life similar to her own. ‘I would want her to replicate my life, and what’s going on in it right now. Just a mum with a family trying to make ends meet and see how that works,’ she said.
‘ A lot of people might not know this, but every year at the beginning of the season, I and my sister would sit down with the producers and tell them what’s going on with our lives in real life, and they would turn those into stories.’ And while Tia waits for the reboot, Tia is keeping busy with other roles.
She said: ‘I’m doing drama roles because people know me as a comedic actress, and I want to stretch myself and do roles that people wouldn’t necessarily see me in.’ There’s no real word on the rest of the cast, but we’re only really interested in Roger. Fans were first treated to a mini “Sister, Sister” reunion when Tia appeared on talkshow “The Real,” which her sister co-hosts. The twins were surprised by the other hosts of the show when they brought out Marques Houston, who played Roger, Tia and Tamera’s neighbour and friend in the series.
